summer house, south lambeth
The summer house in South Lambeth was designed by Spencer Adams and Partners and the brief was simple; an unobtrusive haven away from the main family dwelling for the principle client to take some restoritative time out from hustle of London life. It is an independent timber framed structure externally clad in western red cedar with a zinc roof and metal windows added to echo the surrounding buildings. Internally the white plastered walls and raw oak floor achieve a contemporary, cool feel. Functionality is found in the shape of the ‘hidden’ storage area adjacent to the main studio styled space.
